If you have not already heard of Isaiah Mustafa, not to worry, you soon will, he has become famous overnight as “The Old Spice Man” in an innovative ad campaign by Craig Allen and Eric Kallman of Wieden+Kennedy. The former NFL footballer is now set to star alongside Jennifer Aniston in a Hollywood film, a comedy Horrible Bosses, among other things.
Incredibly, this ad was filmed in one continuous shot (the only CGI used was for the shell/diamonds/old spice part), it took 3 days. They rigged the 3 sided bathroom set, one a boat set, on a beach. Then they used a mechanical arm to carry him onto the horse, watch carefully as he sits down, you will see he is being moved onto the horse. Clever Stuff !! Old Spice sales soar 107% as a result and Isaiah Mustafa is a star
He made Twitter and Youtube magic by replying to over 150 twitter questions via video from the bathroom set used in the ad. Highlights included celebrity questions and a marriage proposal and acceptance !
This shows how advertising companies can take full advantage of the new world of Social Media.
